The English Patient
This sweeping WWII romantic drama took home an unprecedented nine Oscars including Best Picture, Director, Cinematography, Music, Costume, Art and Set Decoration. The English Patient was based on the best-selling novel written by Michael Ondaatje in 1992 and was said to be very loosely based on real events.
Another cinematic concept slightly ahead of its time, the performance of Glenn Close as a sexy stalker in Fatal Attraction still gives people the heeby-jeebies to this day. Some say Al Pacino's portrayal of Officer Frank Serpico in this namesake movie is one of the best cop movies ever made.
