How to Perform a Channel Scan

  1. Please ensure that your antenna is connected to your television before starting this process. Having an off air antenna will make it easier for your TV to find all the channels available to you.

  2. Using the remote that came with your TV press the input or source button until the menu comes up on your TV screen showing the inputs available. On some TVs, you may be able to press this button several times to change the input source.

  3. Once the menu is displayed on the screen, use the up and down arrow keys to highlight the TV or antenna input and press okay or enter.

    * Be sure to take note of which input your TV is currently set to, so you can return back to the correct input source for your cable TV.

*The specifics of the process are going to be different on each TV but the concept is similar.

  4. In this instance we want the tuner setting. Once on the TV input, hit the Menu or Settings button on your TV remote. Ensure the tuner mode is set to antenna not cable.

  5. Select the Auto Channel Scan or Auto Channel Memory and press okay or enter. It may take several minutes for the scan to complete but once it does, it will give you a list of the off air channels that are available to be picked up by an antenna.

  6. You will now be able to change between these stations using your television remote. To change back to your cable service, follow the same procedure by pressing the input button and selecting the original source for cable TV.
