Adjusting Spam Threshold Settings
If you have your email through Buckeye Broadband, you automatically have a spam filter!
A spam filter is a program that detects unwanted emails and prevents them from appearing in your inbox. There are certain requirements that help the spam filter detect which emails you do or do not want. The unwanted messages are moved to the ‘Spam’ folder.
Our email system offers 3 levels of spam filter that can be applied to your inbox. The default setting for this filter is ‘Normal’. If you decide to change this to a higher level to filter out more spam, there is a chance that some of your wanted emails may be blocked from your inbox! Here is some information on these emails, called false positives:
- Carefully monitor your spam folder for messages that may not be spam. When you find any that are valid, just click the ‘Not Spam’ button and this will help the spam filter know that this sender is okay for your inbox
- If you know there is a sender that may frequently be misdirected to your spam folder – you can “whitelist” them! This list is found in the ‘Allowed Senders’ section found in the Spam Settings.
